Adverbs

An adverb is a word that tells us more about a Verb. An adverb “qualifies” or “modifies” a verb (The man ran quickly). But adverbs can modify adjectives (Tara is really beautiful), or even other adverbs (It works very well).

Many different kinds of word are called adverbs. We can usually recognize an adverb by its:

  1. Function (Job)
  2. Form
  3. Position

Exercise 1:

  • Nancy and I (30%) …………………….go out for coffee together.
  • Anita (90%)………………..has ice-cream for dessert.
  • I (20 %)………………..drive my car to work.
  • My sister eats vegetables (40%)………………
  • It (0%)……………..rains here in the summer.
  • …………………(50%) we take the dog off his leash at the beach.
  • My sister (60 %)………………….misses two days of school in a row.
  • My boyfriend and I take vacations together quite (70 %)
  • Andy (10 %)……………………gets to visit with his cousins.
  • 1 (80 %)…………………………..never went to college.
