Agrocampus Ouest has its roots in the School of Agriculture Grandjouan (Loire-Atlantique) founded in 1830. Transferred to Rennes in 1896 on the site occupied today AGROCAMPUS WEST, this national school of agriculture training engineers has developed considerably over the years supported the science education research. In 1946, the National Institute of Agronomic Research (INRA) is created and moved slowly around the school in 1962, is National School Agronomy (ENSA).
Born from the desire to create in the heart pond 1, EU food and agricultural establishment in a Grand Life Sciences, Agrocampus Ouest provides a unique set in France by the range of themes covered and expertise gathered in the fields of agronomy, Food, environment, horticulture and landscape – the food of life.
ISO 9001/2008 certified for all its activities, EUR-ACE label, Agrocampus Ouest is fully and permanently in the dynamics of building the European Higher Education and Research. Educational research and higher interregional (Brittany and Pays de la Loire) with an international, that great public schools.
The integration of Agrocampus Ouest (Establishment of national training and experimental learning) of Beg-Meil which resulted in June 2006 helped develop the resources of CEMPAMA in the transfer and support system agricultural education in interaction with the departments of Rennes.
