AKAD Privat-Hochschulen are private institutions that give state-recognized diplomas. Among the locations are in addition to the AKAD headquarters and Technical College in Stuttgart , AKAD Privat-Hochschulen and Pinneberg , and the study centers in Dusseldorf , Frankfurt and Munich . The Science Council has the three universities accredited in July 2006 AKAD institutionally in a common procedure and re-accredited in November 2009 [2] . In addition, one private, also nationally recognized Scientific University of Lahr of “AKAD private universities GmbH”.
AKAD Privat-Hochschulen is a group of the Cornelsen publishing house and from the Swiss AKAD emerged. In 1959, the “Academics Adult Education Society mbH” in Stuttgart, established to prepare professionals for the first time with a combination of distance learning with classroom instruction at the high school. Beginning in 1960 created further AKAD schools in Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Munich. In addition to the high school preparation AKAD offered in 1968, a preparatory course at the Business Administration, the forerunner of the later polytechnic degree; more AKAD distance learning emerged in subsequent years. AKAD opened in 1974, the Institute for Language Diploma and a year later by the Economic Institute, a program of education and training in the commercial sector.
In 1980 the university established AKAD Privat-Hochschulen in Pinner and became the first German long-distance high school state recognition. The following year, ran the trial operation of the first courses to graduate in business administration and diploma in industrial engineering. From this point AKAD extended the range of study and training opportunities. In 2009 AKAD celebrated its 50th anniversary as the oldest and largest private university network in Germany.
