Burgas Free University /BFU/ is a modern educational institution established with an act of the Great National Assembly on 18 September 1991. It is one of the first non-state universities in Bulgaria, established in the biggest industrial and cultural centre in the south-eastern region of the country.
The organisational structure of Burgas Free University is based on comparatively independent units differentiated on the grounds of academic autonomy. They comprise majors from the four basic fields of study. These are: Faculty of Legal Studies, Faculty of Business Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering.
Burgas Free University is a member of the European University Association, the Association of the Non-state Universities in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Rectors’ Conference.

Library
The library of Burgas Free University meets the educational needs of the students and supports the research activities at the University. The students and lecturers at BFU may use the library free of charge. They should subscribe to the library presenting a student’s book and identity card.
