Central Agricultural University

The committee in its report submitted to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in 1984, observed that the agriculture and allied sectors in the region have lagged behind due to non existence of enough support of agricultural university system which gave impetus for development of these sectors in other parts of the country.

Mission
Keeping the mandates view, the mission of the university is to be a center of Excellence in teaching, research and extension education in the field of agriculture and allied sciences.

Colleges:
There are seven colleges under CAU:

• College of Horticulture & Forestry – Pashigat, Arunachal Pradesh
• College of Agril. Engg. & Post Harvest Technology – Sikkim

• College of Post-Graduate Studies-Barapani, Meghalaya
