Columbia College is a liberal arts college providing first and second year university transfer courses, Associate Degrees in Arts and Science, a university preparatory foundations program conforming to British Columbia Ministry of Education guidelines, and excellent intensive English language instruction in the English Language Centre. Columbia College is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Canada’s west coast. Students enjoy the stunning natural beauty of Vancouver, one of the most spectacular cities in the world, and one of its cleanest and safest. The College is in the midst of downtown Vancouver, very close to some of the best shops, restaurants, and theatres. There is also excellent bus and subway service nearby.

Founded in 1936, Columbia College first offered high school completion programs to hundreds of students. In 1965 the College added university transfer courses to its offerings, and in the 1970s introduced an English as a Second Language Program to meet the needs of the increasing number of international students.

Columbia College was the first private institution in British Columbia to be granted permission to award Associate Degrees. An Associate Degree is an academic qualification awarded to students who have completed two full years of study at the first and second year university levels, including completion of specific course requirements. The requirements give candidates a solid foundation in one particular area of study, while also allowing them to take a variety of elective courses, giving breadth to their education.
