Fachhochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, founded in 1995, is a young university with about 6,000 students, 144 professors and 155 research associates. They are supported by more than 245 highly qualified lecturers from research and practice. In administration, library and language center further 167 staff are employed. Its campus extends over the three sites Hennef, Rhine river, and St. Augustine. In Bonn, it operates jointly with the University and the RWTH Aachen, the B-IT Academy. In her high school development plan describes the strategic objectives that it wants to achieve by 2015, and proposes concrete measures to achieve these goals. Managing theme is sustainability.

At the Fachhochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg expects the students a hands-on study based on current research findings in the current 24 degree programs. This feature professors both have experience from industry and from academia. An excellent technical infrastructure and well-equipped laboratories have come as naturally as numerous computer labs, university-wide wireless Internet access, a fully-equipped high school and county library and an active campus life.

Unique in Germany created the “Fachhochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg” from a joint initiative of the Bundestag and the federal government, provincial and national government and the region as part of the 1994 agreements on the Bonn-Berlin compensation. Particular mandate: creating new academic teaching and research capabilities and provide through practical projects and collaborations with the private sector to contribute to the structural evolution of the economic area. In the summer of ’99 the first 26 graduates received their Diploma in Applied Sciences. Already in 2002, she breaks through its original goal of 2,500 students and must be expanded. Today’s “Bonn-Rhein-Sieg” is now released from the special grant of federal and allow for excellent teaching, learning and research environments largely autonomous.
