Fachhochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung Nordrhein-Westfalen was founded in 1976. In more than 30 years, the university has released a total of nearly 60,000 graduates. Currently educates the public body about 6,800 students.

Nearly 180 full-time and about 800 part-time lecturers share their knowledge and practical experience to the young for the senior service of local, state, social administration and police in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Contrary to other state universities, the University of Fachhochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung Nordrhein-Westfalen was not an independent entity, but one of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and the North Rhine-Westphalia associated facility in the country with limited self-government.

The College of Public Administration of Fachhochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung Nordrhein-Westfalen has a complex body structure, on the one hand, from the various courses of study with two departments and other results from the four departments with a total of seven remote study sites.
