Fachhochschule Oldenburg/Ostfriesland/Wilhelmshaven was a German university. It was at first Founded in January 2000. It developed from the previously independent colleges Oldenburg , Ostfriesland (based in Emden ) and Wilhelmshaven . The designation was short Fachhochschule Oldenburg/Ostfriesland/Wilhelmshaven, FH-OOW or FHOOW. A merger of the University of Oldenburg with FH-OOW (Oldenburg) and Oldenburg University in June 2008 was prevented by strong opposition from the university.
Through the merger was the largest university in Lower Saxony with about 10,000 students , over 800 employees, including about 300 professors. 2009, the college was already defusioniert again.
