The Geoponiko Panepistimio Athinon derived from transformation of the Agricultural University of Athens (A.G.S.A.) and its history essentially begins from 14/1/1920, with the enactment of 1884 establishing the Higher Geoponiko Panepistimio Athinon (as originally called the School). The establishment of the School became the National Estate Rouf, the area currently occupied in the University Botanic. On this property was located and operated since 1888 one of the three agricultural schools, three studies, the Endowment Triantafyllidis (another operating Tiryns and third in Thessaly). The inauguration of the School became the first Director of 3/2/1920 and was the Apostle of Agriculture Concept on our site, the Agronomist Spyridon Hasiotis.
The Geoponiko Panepistimio Athinon provides agronomic education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels covering all sectors of farming. The educational programs combine theoretical teaching with lab exercise and practice, stemming from the research experience and related the problems and prospects of Greek agriculture. designed to make graduates of the Foundation qualified for the role of Agriculture, who is a teacher and supporter of the Farmer and designer of the agricultural development of the country, while contributing to research to solve problems rural areas and rational management of natural resources for agricultural production.
