The Hellenic Military Academy “Military School for Aspirant [Officers]“) is the oldest tertiary level educational institution in Greece. Hellenic Military Academy was founded in 1828 in Nafplio by Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first Governor of the modern Greek State.

The Hellenic Military Academy was created to provide officers for all the Arms of the Hellenic Army (Infantry, Armor, Artillery, Signals, Engineering, and Army Aviation), as well as some of the Corps (the Technical Corps, the Transportation & Supply Corps, and the Ordnance Corps).

The School offers a broad academic education, which complements and expands the military training. The program’s academic training includes items from a wide range of disciplines from Humanities and Social Sciences Applied to Science, from chemistry to history and psychology in Engineering.

The first Hellenic Navy and Hellenic Air Force officers of the Balkan Wars came from the Academy as well. The Academy is a Highest Education Institution (University) and is overseen by the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence.

Mission
To produce and transmit knowledge to its Cadets, through the teaching and research of Military Science and Technology, as well as the exploration of relevant courses in the fields of Humanities, Sciences, and Applied Sciences.To develop military virtues and military conduct, so as to shape Officers of the Army that will possess both military conscience and superior education, as well as the social, cultural, and civil awareness and skills, and the qualities that will mould them into competent leaders, with excellent professional and educational training.
