A vibrant university may well be satisfied with our achievements, but should never be content with it. At a time when our society is increasingly defined by new technical developments, the conservatory is increasingly taking on the task to participate in receiving the vital space for creativity and self expression.

The efficiency of music graduates / inside in society is sometimes underestimated. Musician / music educator and inside / inside play for large parts of the population a significant role in the mediation and appropriation of the musical heritage and for the understanding of contemporary art. They work in different musical institutions of the country and the city: theater, orchestra, radio and television stations, colleges, music schools, choirs and many others, and thus form the pyramid from the base to tip.

The origin of the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe dates back to the year 1812, when on private initiative and with support from the city a musical education institute for wind and – established a “Sing prison” – two years later.
