The Hochschule für Musik Saar (University of Music) is not only an internationally recognized musical training, they are busy as a versatile concert promoter Saarland’s musical life. The students and alumni of the Hochschule für Musik Saar are often successful in international competitions and participate in major orchestras.

The trained teachers at the University of Music Saarland make a valuable contribution to society in the musical based work: they care about the education of young artists and future expert listeners.

In 1994 the Academy of Music in Hochschule für Musik Saar for Music and the theater was renamed, its name after the closure of the course in Acting 2002 Hochschule für Musik Saar Saarland has changed. Since 2007, related to the integration of the former building of the school opposite the Academy of Music Schiller additional classrooms available. Currently, about 400 students are enrolled in the Academy of Music Saar. An architectural competition within the Cultural Mile Saar, the architect Werner Paul Gard from St. Wendel won in January 2010, envisages the construction of an extension building of the Academy of Music Saar in the coming years.
