The Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht Berlin (HWR) Berlin is a state college and went on 1 April 2009 from the merger of the School of Economics (FHW) Berlin and the University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Justice Berlin (FHVR) out.

In five departments and three central institutes are studying in the fields of business and economics, management, engineering, law and security offered in the area. The Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht Berlin has three locations: the central campus is the site of Schöneberg . The buildings in the street Badensche house the central university administration, the Department of Economics and the Institute of Management Berlin (IMB). On the management area in the street Alt-Friedrichsfelde , the campus Friedrichsfelde are located, since January 2011, four departments of BSEL and the Distance Education Institute and the Institute for Administrative Modernisation and police reform in Central and Eastern Europe. On campus Friedrichshain premises for teaching several disciplines are used.

The Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht Berlin was founded in 1971 as a successor to the business school, which had itself emerged in 1965 from the Graduate School of Economics and the Higher Economic School and originally offered only to the course “Economics” in the day and evening classes. In the late 1990s expanded the Berlin School to offer their subjects to MBA-level programs and was one of the first MBA providers in Germany.
