The Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz is a college in Saxony with two 35 road kilometers apart locations in Zittau and Görlitz . The international name is Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz. Currently, around 3,800 students enrolled, including about 500 foreigners from 32 nations in total.
The Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz was on 13 July 1992 as a “college for technology, business and social work Zittau / Görlitz (FH)” was founded, with double location in Zittau and Görlitz in Upper Lusatia. The towns of Zittau and Görlitz have a centuries-old tradition with a focus in education, science and art.
On the initiative of the Zittau Christian way in the 17th Century, the foundation stone foundation of the “School Zittau” set. About the “School Zittau” spread in the 18th Century, the spirit of Zittau art of education. Due to the strong economic position of Saxony 1836 Royal Saxon Vocational School was established. This developed into a Baugewerkeschule, civil engineering and structural engineering school and a commercial college with the law of patents awarded by the engineer. 1951 a school of engineering for energy was launched, the national recognition came. The newly established School of Engineering Zittau (IHC) took over in 1969 and built these graduates to the fields of power plants, energy conversion, electric power supply and operating economy. Between 1979 and 2005 was also the Zittau teaching and research reactor operated.
