Founded in 1920, the Institut d’Optique Graduate School (IOGS) is an “engineering school”, a founding member of ParisTech, whose international reputation is based both on the quality of training that is provided on the contributions of its major scientific research center and its close links with industry.
The Institute is currently located on two sites, the campus of Palaiseau and Saint-Etienne and will soon be present on the campus of Bordeaux (2012). Institut d’Optique Graduate School is an institution of higher education and research recognized the public interest, under the Ministry of Higher Education and Research.
The Institut d’Optique Graduate School integrates a powerful laboratory of international reputation, the Laboratoire Charles Fabry Institute of Optics (LCFIO) covering the different fields of view from upstream to downstream, from the fundamental (quantum optics) at the applied (specific optical components).
The lens extends quickly, since the industries which it forms the heart of business (Essilor, Thales, Sagem, ONERA, CEA, CNES …) to new areas where it is innovative components in complex systems. She gets so many new areas such as transport (vehicle manufacturers: PSA or equipment: Valeo), food (food safety and traceability) or health and biotechnology (medical imaging, diagnostics, analysis). The optical technologies become ubiquitous in systems whose character hides the complexity of everyday life (cameras in mobile telephony, image processing in industrial, optical sensor in home automation, etc.)..
