The college was founded in 1851 as the Auburndale Female Seminary, by Edward Lasell. During the college’s first semester, Lasell died of typhoid fever and the school was renamed Lasell Female Seminary.
Lasell College offers bachelor’s degrees in professional disciplines. It also offers graduate programs in similar areas of study. The most prominent academic major at Lasell is Fashion Design. Through the “Connected Learning” program, students work on off-site projects and assignments.
