The Lutherische Theologische Hochschule Oberursel is a church-based training facility and shall be borne by the Independent Evangelical-Lutheran Church (SELK). The Lutherische Theologische Hochschule Oberursel is open to all students of Protestant theology.

Lutherische Theologische Hochschule Oberursel represented in research and teaching the classical subjects of Theology (Old Testament, New Testament, church history, systematic theology, practical theology), each with a chair. In addition, customer mission, deacons, ecumenical theology and philosophy are represented in the curriculum. Their work is aimed to highlight the importance of the present Lutheran-Reformed heritage in spiritual, social and ecclesiastical terms, and to get people talking. The study program also includes courses in biblical languages, Hebrew and Greek (one extended term) as well as in Latin (two advanced semester).

In a complex of movements that opposed the union of Reformed and Lutherans, and the theological rationalism that emerged in the context of revival and Confessing Movement in German territories of the 19 Century independent Lutheran churches. In the Kingdom of Prussia in 1883 opened the Evangelical Lutheran (Old Lutheran) Church in Breslau Theological Seminary, opened in 1922, the Evangelical Lutheran Free Church in Saxony and other states in its School of Theology at Berlin Kleinmachnow. The Second World War with its consequences, but finished the activities of these two bodies.

Library
The library is for all students enrolled at the Lutherische Theologische Hochschule Oberursel accessible at all times, providing independent usage possibilities of opening times.
