We consider milk to be the most nearly perfect food we have. And when we consider all the good things for our body that we obtain when we drink milk, we can see why this is so.

Milk is a naturally enriched food. Proteins which build and repair muscles are found in milk. Another important part of milk is fat, an energy-giving food. The fat in milk is called “butterfat”. When globules (tiny, round pieces of fat) are present in milk, butter can be made.

Milk also has sugar, which is an energy-giving Carbohydrate. Lactose, the sugar found in milk, is less sweet than cane sugar, and is also more easily used by the body than is any other kind of sugar.

Milk is also rich in minerals. So it supplies what the body requires for
bone-building and blood-building foods. Calcium and Phosphorous make up a large part of the mineral content of milk. There is more calcium in milk than in any other food.

Other minerals in milk are iron, copper, manganese, magnesium, sodium, potassium, chlorine, iodine, cobalt and zinc. And we have not finished yet! Milk also provides us with many vitamins. It is a rich source of B2, A, B1. It also contains vitamins C and D. And, of course, milk contains water too. But the most amazing thing about milk is that there is about a quarter of a pound of food solids in each quarter of milk! Isn’t milk an ideal and perfect food.
