The Moholy-Nagy Muvészeti Egyetem department of one of the workshops műfaragászati 1880th November 14, opened in 1870, founded the National School of Decorative Arts and the Royal Hungarian Rajztanárképezde – the predecessor of today’s Academy of Fine Arts – as a department. The institution then on Andrassy Avenue, the (old) building of the Academy of Music. The 1880-90-ies turn went to the School of Applied Arts new “special classes”: molding, metalwork, wood cutting, decorative painting, engraving, sculptures, decorative sculptures. The duration of the 1887/88-as academic year from three to five years rose because the training was based on a two-year preparatory course.

Moholy-Nagy Muvészeti Egyetem of a complete university-level education in traditional arts and crafts in addition to university-level designer, architect and designer training in visual communication. The MOME educational activity is designed to judge the artistic talent, students develop their skills in a targeted operation conditions.

Moholy-Nagy Muvészeti Egyetem university undertook efforts to form a conscious creative individuals, who in their professional fields from high-level tasks to solve. Besides training artists, art teacher training contributes to an increase in the general level of visual culture, art manager training course provides certain sectors of the economy and the artistic activities of a link between too.

Mission
Moholy-Nagy Muvészeti Egyetem University undertakes the mission of elite training, university courses, but also its thematic DLA and PhD courses, and postgraduate training. The university of applied arts is spiritual workshop, its library, art gallery and publications achieves. The University teaching staff and the boundaries of genres – autonomous arts of the traditional division of the university teaching activities ongoing openness, interoperability substitute.
