Ostravská Univerzita v Ostrave

Ostravská Univerzita v Ostrave was founded on 28 září 1991. Základy pro její vznik byly položeny již v roce 1953. September 1991. The foundations for its development were laid in 1953. At that time, was opened in Opava Higher Pedagogical School. Its contents have been training teachers for the second stupeň základních škol. level of primary schools. Decision to cancel the existing teacher training school teachers of national schools in Ostrava were training combined into one department.  It became (in 1959) the newly established Institute of Education in Ostrava.  In 1964 the Institute got the status of a separate Faculty of Education.
