Royal College of Music enjoys a reputation as one of the world’s leading conservatoires, providing specialised musical education and professional training at the highest international level for performers, conductors and composers. Enabling students to develop musical skills, knowledge, understanding and resourcefulness which will enable them to contribute significantly to musical life in this country and internationally.
The Royal College of Music is a conservatoire that has trained musicians for international careers. Since its foundation in 1882, by the Prince of Wales and later Edward VII, the College has been linked with the Royal family. Our patron is currently Her Majesty, The Queen. For 40 years, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother was President and in 1993 HRH The Prince of Wales became President, With over 660 students from 54 countries studying at undergraduate, masters or doctoral level, the RCM is a community of talented and open-minded musicians where excellence, individuality, creativity and diversity are prized.
Library
The RCM Library is one of the foremost music libraries in the United Kingdom, with a wealth of material dating from the 15th century onwards. It aims to provide comprehensive support to performance, study, teaching and research in the College, through its loan, reference and listening services.
