Slezská univerzita v Opave

Among universities in the Czech Republic is the only university which was established in 1989 to “scratch” without the possibility to establish the existence of any other pre-school.  The establishment of the Silesian University in Opava is related to the overall democratic development in recent years when, after removal of the existing state centralism occurred more opportunities for the development of remote regions in our case the Czech part of the historical Silesia.

It should be noted that first sought to obtain Slezská univerzita v Opave city council back in 1870, but then had to go to high school German. On the Origin of the Silesian University in Opava was later just after liberation in 1945, but the political situation was after the events of 1948 in favor of this idea. At some political tension in 1968, she joined a new intense negotiations, but not until after 17 listopadu 1989 se podařilo Slezskou univerzitu opravdu založit. November 1989, managed to really establish the Slezská univerzita v Opave.  September 1990 approved the establishment of the Faculty of Arts, Opava and Business Administration in Karvina. July 1991 the two faculties of the Slezská univerzita v Opave was established in Opava.

Slezská univerzita v Opave passed at the beginning of the third millennium demanding evaluations and is a member of the European University Association. He has signed cooperation agreements with many foreign universities, not only on the European continent and seeks to intensify contacts with your loved ones especially universities in Polish Silesia. For this purpose, on her initiative established the Conference of Rectors of the Slezská univerzita v Opave.
