Good Energy Choice: Conventional sources of energy are limited and they run out sooner. So it is necessary that all of us should endeavour to conserve them and still look for new and renewable energy source. But lack of awareness among the public, non-availability of appropriate technology and quality instruments, theft of electricity, and inappropriate architectural designs, which ignore the availability of natural light and air have led to wastage of power. Hence it is realized that energy saved is more than energy produced in view of the increasing cost of production. If appliance and solar energy generative systems are made available at affordable subsidised cost, this problem can be tackled better.

Solar System Generating System is, as the name indicated, operated with solar energy and is renewable energy. It is useful for community cooking, air conditioning and other steam applications in institutions, industry, and residential colleges/schools. Ashrams/religious places, hotels, hostels, jails etc.

The Technology: Solar Steam generating systems comprise of automatically tracked concentrating dishes to convert water into steam that could be used for cooking, air-conditioning and other steam applications. These systems are generally linked up with conventional steam boilers so as to take of non-sunshine hours. For cooling/Air-conditioning, the systems work with VAR machines.

How it is beneficial to the users: Steam cookings are clean, hygienic and efficient. These can cook food for hundreds to thousands of people at a time. It can also help us in saving a substantial amount of conventional fuel. A 100 sq.m. solar dish system can save up to 4500 litres of fuel oil per year, The cost of its installation pays back and can be recovered in 4 to 5 years.

World’s largest System: Over 50 systems of various capacity are working in our country, However, world’s largest solar steam cooking system has been installed at Shiridi in Maharashtra. It cooks food for 20,000 people per day.
