South China Agricultural University (SCAU) is located in Guangzhou City, adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao. Covering the area of more than 550 hectares, the beautiful and peaceful campus is an ideal place for education and scientific research.
South China Agricultural University history can be traced back to 1909. Over nearly a hundred years, SCAU has grown into a multi-disciplinary, comprehensive university with agriculture, engineering, liberal arts, basic sciences, economics, management, law, education, history and philosophy. It is now adopting a multi-level and multi-approach schooling system and intends to develop into an advanced multi-disciplinary agricultural institute with distinctive tropical and subtropical features. The university takes agricultural sciences as its priority and life sciences as its highlight. At South China Agricultural University, undergraduate and graduate programs are developing concurrently, with teaching and research as the two central tasks.
South China Agricultural University has more than twenty colleges. At present there are more than 2,900 faculty and staff at SCAU, including 297 full professors and 541 associate professors. Among the faculty members, there is one academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, two specially invited professors and one chair professor for the “Changjiang Scholar Award Program”, three candidates for the national “Outstanding Youth Foundation”.South China Agricultural University has five national key disciplines, five key disciplines of the Ministry of Agriculture and also seventeen provincial key disciplines of Guangdong. There are four key ministerial laboratories, four provincial key laboratories of Guangdong，four test centers and four key teaching laboratory of Guangdong at SCAU. 9 post-doctoral research stations have been established.
