Sri Krishnadevaraya University
Introduction
Sri Krishnadevaraya University had its beginning as the Post Graduate centre of Sri Venkateswara University in the year 1968. The University is a public university in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, India, founded on July 25, 1981. The University is named after a patron of learning and the arts, Sri Krishnadevaraya, of the Vijayanagara empire of the 16th century.
Sri Krishnadevaraya University is contributing to the cause of higher education through 112 affiliated degree colleges of which 7 are meant exclusively for women. The other colleges affiliated to the University include 26 Colleges of Education, 2 Oriental Colleges, 2 Law Colleges and one Engineering College. 20 affiliated colleges under the University are also offering post graduate courses in various disciplines.
Sri Krishnadevaraya University has facilities for undertaking study and research through well established library and laboratories. The students, besides the opportunities for academic advancement, are provided with facilities such as outdoor stadium, playgrounds, gymnasium, E-Class Room, INFLIBNET, Internet, and computer networks for their overall personality development. The infrastructure of the University also includes Bhuvana Vijayam Auditorium, Janmabhoomi Canteen, Sabari Guest House, Health centre, Adhyapak Bhavan, NSS Building and several buildings for teaching departments and residential quarters.
The University provides UG and PG Courses. The courses offered are B.Arch., B.E., B.Tech., B.Pharm., LLB., M.E., M.Tech., M.Pharm, M.Phil., Ph.D and many more.
Campus
Situated in rural environs in an extensive campus of over 500 acres (2.0 km2) of land, the University has ample scope for development as also an infrastructure which includes a University Science Instrumentation Centre, a Computer Centre, a Health Centre, a Gymnasium, an Outdoor Stadium, an Auditorium and adequately built up space to accommodate departments of studies, laboratories, hostels, and housing for the staff, teaching and non-teaching.
