St. Stephen’s University is a small Christian trans-denominational university located in the town of St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada.
SU emphasizes Christian life together in all that we do in St Stephen and as we study overseas. Two out of eight terms in the BA program are spent in Study Abroad in both Europe and South East Asia. These academic terms are normally attended by all students and are designed to bring to life our studies of Western Civilization and International Studies as we travel, mix with the peoples of distant continents and learn on-site. Our Ministry Studies programs are also complemented by shorter two-week “intensives” in the Bible Lands of Turkey and Greece or Israel.
On July 15, 1975, six brave students and a small group of faculty and staff launched St. Stephen’s University. Now in its fourth decade of continuous service as a centre of Christian higher education, SSU remains distinctive as a small university inspired by a big vision. From the beginning, we have seen the difference between training and transformation. Training has its place. But at its best, Christian education not only teaches people to know more and do more, it also helps them to become better. The process of being “… transformed by the renewing of your mind…” is what Jesus lived and taught. It is our continuing quest.
