There is a question we like to ask ourselves and ask prospective students at Tai Sophia Institute. The question is, “What are you doing for the rest of your life?” It’s a provocative idea to stop and think about what it is we want to accomplish in the years we’re here. And, yes, the answers can get philosophical. “I want to be the best person I can be,” is one we hear. Another is, “I want to change the way things are.” And, “I want my life to be about something more than what it is today.”
There are thousands of answers and, of course, none of them are wrong. Often people talk about reaching higher, doing more, contributing in some way to the greater good, being more fulfilled in their own life and being a healing presence to others. The words are different but the sentiment is often the same.
In ways that could not have been imagined a few decades ago, the field of complementary medicine now commands more attention by both the consumer and the medical community. Our current trillion dollar health-care system is undergoing a profound change towards a consumer-driven model based upon choice, results, affordability, and service. Integrating conventional and complementary modalities, this emerging era in health care emphasizes prevention, wellness, personal empowerment, and quality of life. Yet some of the greatest change is taking place outside of the health-care arena, where the principles of wellness, transformative leadership, open communication and healing are affecting workplace culture and business growth.
