Founded in 1973, the Universität der Bundeswehr München is basically the scientific training of officers and cadets. The number of students increased steadily: There are about 3,700 students enrolled, including about 360 women, approximately 150 foreign officers and foreign exchange students as well as 50 civilian students.
Universität der Bundeswehr München consists of a university and a polytechnic sector. The trimester system, a study of short distances on the university campus and the individual support of students in small groups to enable a successful study in a short time. After 3 years period of study, students achieve a bachelor’s degree after four years, a master’s degree in Intensive studies are possible. The financial statements which are equivalent to state universities. Research and teaching at the University of the Bundeswehr are free and excellent scientific facilities enable internationally competitive research at a high level.
Universität der Bundeswehr München administration is committed to improving the conditions of continuous study and research. Through a structural reform in 2000, which led to a strengthening of university autonomy and an opening to the outside of the university, it is the university to respond to quickly and flexibly to the growing challenges and continue to be a pioneer in reforms.
1973 were the first officers and cadets on their studies at the Universität der Bundeswehr München. The university was like its sister university in Hamburg, was founded as a reform university. The socialist-liberal coalition under Chancellor Helmut Schmidt wanted to implement these two institutions of higher education policy reform their ideas. At the same time it was the goal, the training of officers to devise new and more attractive.
