Universität für Künstlerische und Industrielle Gestaltung Linz has its institutional and programmatic roots in art school founded in 1947, the city of Linz, which was founded in 1973 and 1998, finally brought to college to university.
The story of an institution is important for the development of their own identity and thus for the development of a special profile. As for the temporal dimension, the Art University Linz is a latecomer in this regard. It was founded in 1973 with the assistance of the City of Linz and Upper School of the Art and Industrial Design (as successor to the School of Art Linz).
Vision
The resulting opportunity for a new, specific positioning was taken quickly. Based on the location-based and international conditions could the existing art and design offerings as well as teacher training and partially adapted to the – to be expanded media – particularly digital.
Library
Universität für Künstlerische und Industrielle Gestaltung Linz Library is a publicly accessible central service institution of the University of Art Linz, with its offerings and services currently available for free to their customers. To establish the UB as an attractive communication, learning and working environment is one of the guiding principles of the library team. To the customers are currently 3 online catalog, research facilities, a spacious reading and work table, two computer workstations, one Mac desktop, all connected to an A3 scanner and software and a color printer, copier and reproduction capabilities, and more comfortable reading areas are available.
