Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne has put forward its strengths school disciplinary and multi-site to recognize its role in regional development by local social and economic fabric.
Although it has ancient roots, Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenneis, in its current form, within the last thirty years. First Cathedral School, one of the largest in Europe during the Middle Ages, Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne was founded in 1548, thanks to the intervention of the Cardinal of Lorraine which was awarded him by the papacy. Closed in 1793 during the French Revolution, she experienced a near total eclipse for a century and a half, only to reappear in the sixties.

The creation of an IUT at Troyes (1973), an Institute of Higher Technical Education (1985) and a department of IUT in Charleville-Mezieres (1995), development of an antenna in Troyes relocated Faculties of Law, Economics and Letters of Reims (1991) and the opening of a department of IUT in Chalons-en-Champagne (1993) now claim the regional roots of a university that has become, in 1982, University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne.
