Universiteti Bujqësor i Tiranës is an institution of public higher education funded by state and other legal sources. The activity of the Universiteti Bujqësor i Tiranës based on Article 57, paragraph 7 of the Constitution and Law no. 9741, dated 21.05.2007 “On Higher Education in Albania” (amended by Law no. 9832, dated 12.11.2007 and Law no. 10307, dated 22/07/2010), this statute and the regulations adopted in its implementation.

Universiteti Bujqësor i Tiranës and his staff have academic freedom in teaching and research. Academic freedom is expressed in respect of opinions, ideas, methods and in ensuring the development of free, creative and critical teaching and research in line with meeting the goals of the University.
