University of Moratuwa

History:
The University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, was deemed to be established by an Order under the University Act, No. 16 of 1978, but has its origins in the Ceylon Technical College of Maradana, which was established in 1893.

Introduction:
The University of Moratuwa, located on the banks of the Bolgoda Lake is one of best technical universities in Sri Lanka, comprising of an Engineering Faculty ,an Architecture Faculty and an Information Technology Faculty.

It presents a rich variety of social and cultural activities, student services, clubs, organizations and sports. This vital community of around 3000 students from all around the country, with every imaginable interest, emphasizes respect for the rights and individuality of each student.

Having produced a large number of distinguished professionals, the staff of the University of Moratuwa strives to instill in its students the wisdom and knowledge required to serve the community at large.

Keeping abreast with the latest technological advancements, the Engineering faculty offers courses in a variety of technical spheres while the Architecture faculty encourages students to focus their imaginative ideas on constructive designs. The Faculty of Information Technology, being the first ever such a faculty in Sri Lankan university system, would made its courses broad base to cover various disciplines where IT would be relevant.

All in all we here, at the University of Moratuwa, work toward becoming a part of a long tradition of intellectual rigor and creative achievement while also developing our social and spiritual life.
