The Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy and the University of Saskatchewan International Office are pleased to welcome European Union Ambassador and Head of Mission, Matthias Brinkmann, to campus on May 25. As part of his visit, Ambassador Brinkman will give a public lecture in Convocation Hall, entitled “Relations between the European Union and Canada: history and recent developments”. His talk will specifically touch on the ongoing EU-Canada trade negotiations and numerous economic advantages a potential agreement will bring to both economies. He will also explain bilateral cooperation on policy issues, with examples taken from sectors such as agriculture and natural resources.

The institution was modelled on the American state university, with an emphasis on extension work and applied research. The University was created on April 3, 1907 by a provincial statute known as the University Act. It provided for a publicly funded, yet independent institution to be created for the citizens of the whole province.
