UWIC provides education and training opportunities that are accessible, flexible and of the highest quality, and has been independently acclaimed for its high academic standards and for its high level of student satisfaction. UWIC specialises in courses that are career orientated and which have been designed in conjunction with business and industry.

The University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) as it is today was established in 1996 when it became one of the Colleges of the University of Wales. However, the roots of UWIC date back to the mid 1800s, a history of which UWIC is very proud. What follows are some of the landmark events over the last 150 years.

UWIC there is a continuous effort to maintain and raise the standards for all who study here. In 2007 UWIC was the first UK university to be awarded the Government’s Charter Mark for Excellence for the fifth time. UWIC is committed to setting high standards to ensure the education received by its students is of the highest quality and reinforces UWIC’s vision, mission, values and motto.
