The University of Western Greece, located at the outskirts of the city of Agrinio, is the most recently founded University in Greece. It was founded in September of 2009 with Greek Law 3794/4-9-2009.

The University of Western Greece provides high quality education through its departments, with members that are active in both education and research. The focus of the current departments in environmental and natural resources management, business administration of food and agricultural enterprises and in management of cultural environment and new technologies indicates the direction of the University to the provision of high quality teaching, to development and adoption of new technologies for strong connection with the society and the production sector while respecting the environment, with emphasis on the activities and the exploitation of the natural resources of Western Greece and the country overall.

Vision
Our vision for the University of Western Greece is its leading role in education, research and the development of innovative technologies in the scientific and technological areas of its departments. Until today, its departments have contributed significantly at the regional, national and european level. Our goal for the University is to create an academic environment that will achieve additional development of its current activities as well as strong connections to the society with the purpose of the development of the region and the country, overcoming the challenges of the 21st century.
