Univerzita Karlova v Praze founded by Czech King and Roman Charles IV. Deed of 7 April 1348 as the first university (studium generale) to the north of the Alps and east of Paris. The Charles University belongs to the old European universities. It followed the example of universities in Bologna and Paris in a short time has achieved international renown. She had four faculties: theology, liberal arts, law and medicine.
